APPARATUS STRUCK WHILE EN ROUTE TO CALL – NEW YORK

ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WHEC)— Police say a driver was taken to the hospital, and ticketed after a crash involving a fire truck Friday morning.

The crash happened near the intersection of Avenue D and North Street around midnight.

Police say the driver drove through a red light and crossed into the path of the oncoming fire truck as crews were on the way to an emergency call. RPD said the truck had its lights and sirens on at the time of the crash.

The driver was taken to the hospital for evaluation of pain, but nobody in the firetruck was hurt.

The driver was given a ticket for failing to stop at the red light, but police say no other charges are expected.
