WA ENGINE STRUCK HEAD ON RESPONDING

BONNEY LAKE, Wash. – A fire truck responding to a medical emergency was struck head-on by a car near Bonney Lake on Wednesday, fire officials said.

The crash unfolded near the intersection of Angeline Road and Veterans Memorial Drive in Bonney Lake.

Officials said the fire engine, operated by East Pierce Fire & Rescue, was enroute to an emergency call, with its lights and siren activated. An approaching car apparently passed a stopped vehicle and slammed head-on into the fire truck.

The car sustained significant damage in the crash, and the car’s driver was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

No firefighters were injured.
