King William County firefighter was injured Monday night after the emergency vehicle he rode in hit a downed power line while responding to a car crash.
Around 11 p.m. Monday, firefighters from King William County’s station one were dispatched to a single-vehicle accident on Route 360 near the intersection of West River Road, according to a King William County Fire and EMS news release.
Fire Chief Andy Aigner could not be reached for comment.
Firefighters were notified while they were en route the crashed SUV had overturned onto a telephone pole and the driver was trapped inside, the release said.
While approaching the site of the crash, an emergency vehicle came into contact with a downed power line, according to the release. The powerline damaged the emergency vehicle and injured a firefighter.
