CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (CBS19 NEWS) — The Charlottesville Police Department responded to a report of a crash involving three vehicles at the intersection of Preston Avenue and Ridge-McIntire Road.
According to a release, one of the vehicles involved was a Charlottesville Fire Department vehicle.
A Charlottesville Fire Department vehicle went through the intersection at a slow speed with its emergency lights and sirens activated, when the driver of a Chevrolet pickup truck ran a red light. The driver hit the fire department’s vehicle and another passenger vehicle.
Two patients, including a member of the Charlottesville Fire Department, were taken to the University of Virginia Hospital for non-life-threatening injuries, according to the release.
The cause of the crash is still being investigated. CPD say speed may have been a factor.
The Charlottesville Police and Charlottesville Fire departments remind residents to move over for emergency vehicles when their emergency lights and sirens are on.
