LA COUNTY ENGINE INVOLVED IN RESPONDING CRASH

A fire engine responding to a medical call at a neighborhood off of Soledad Canyon Road in Saugus was struck by another vehicle Sunday, officials said.

Just before 2:20 p.m. Sunday, Fire Engine 111 was just arriving at a neighborhood for a medical call when it was struck by a vehicle on Soledad Canyon Road at Wishbone Lane, according to officials from the Los Angeles County Fire Department, according to Los Angeles  County Fire Department dispatch supervisor Cheryl Sims.

“Noninjury. Sheriff’s (deputy) is there taking reports because it involves a County vehicle,” said Sims.

Fire Engine 111 was just arriving to a medical call at the Greenbriar Mobile Estates off of Soledad Canyon Road when a silver Mini Cooper that had not pulled over and attempting to struck the engine as it was making a right turn into the neighborhood entrance, per officials on-scene.

A third vehicle leaving Greenbriar Mobile Estates was damaged by the crash.

Engine 111 experienced damage due to the collision, and has been taken out of service for repairs.
