FIRE DEPARTMENT FACING LAWSUIT FOR RESPONDING FIRE APPARATUS CRASH

The Swissvale Fire Department (near Pittsburgh PA) is facing a lawsuit over a crash involving a fire truck. Tasha Sarvis, of McKeesport, filed the lawsuit Wednesday in Allegheny County Common Pleas Court. The lawsuit cites an incident on April 4, 2017, in which Sarvis says she was driving her 2017 Chevy Cruze on Kennywood Boulevard in Duquesne when her vehicle was struck by a Swissvale fire truck. Sarvis says she suffered injuries in the crash. Several claims are made in the lawsuit including that the fire truck was traveling at an excessive and dangerous rate of speed for the circumstances and that traffic signals were not obeyed. The Swissvale Fire Department has not publicly responded to the lawsuit.
