Charlotte Fire officials said one of their trucks was involved in an accident at University City Boulevard and East W.T. Harris Boulevard Tuesday morning.
Officials said the crash happened around 11:30 a.m. when CFD ladder truck 40 was traveling westbound on W.T. Harris with its lights and sirens on when it came up on two vehicles.
Officals told Channel 9 that a white pickup truck stopped and was struck from behind by the fire engine.
That truck then crashed into a brown SUV.
The driver of the pickup was taken to the hospital but officials said he should be OK.
CFD’s own risk management team is investigating the crash and there was no word on how long the road will be closed.
