Tragic news out of Lexington (Kentucky) this evening, as a responding fire apparatus was involved in an unusual crash that has resulted in the fatality of a civilian, according to sources.
One Firefighter was trapped temporarily in the driver’s seat of the apparatus after that crash at around 1700 hours on Man o’ War Boulevard. The Firefighter had minor injuries, but the driver of the sedan was initially in critical condition-no other firefighters were injured.
The fire apparatus was responding to a call with lights and sirens on when the crash occurred…apparently the sedan jumped the median and collided with LFD Engine Co.15 on the inner loop-and the apparatus hit the passenger side of the car.
The crash is being investigated to try to determine why the sedan jumped the median. Our condolences to all those affected.
