A Smyrna mother lost her life Thursday in a collision with an Arrington Fire Department Truck.
That truck was headed down Nolensville Road to a fire call that ended up being cancelled when it collided with Nikki Walden’s car pulling out to cross at the York Road intersection.
Michael Coleman saw everything two cars behind her.
“All you heard was a big boom and chaos of everything flying,” Coleman said.
Coleman says Walden appeared to hesitate twice before pulling out to cross Nolensville road.
Walden’s family tells Fox 17 News she was on her way to pick up a 3-year-old daughter from daycare. The Smyrna medical sales employee also has 11 and 7 year old sons according to the family.
They’ve set up a GoFundMe page to help raise money for the three children.
Coleman is convinced Walden saw the fire truck, but he believes she would have reacted differently if that truck had been running lights and sirens.
“She wouldn’t have had to pull out. She’d sat right there and wait for that to come through,” said Coleman.

It is with great sadness to say that we have all lost a beautiful mother, daughter, sister and friend. Nikki lost her life in a tragic car accident on August 10th, 2017. She leaves behind three small children, Tristan, Easton and Aralynn, her brothers, her sister and many family and friends. First and most importantly this family needs prayers.
