There was a serious responding fire apparatus crash this evening (Christmas eve) in North Carolina. It happened involving a Shingle Hollow VFD (Rutherford County, SE of Ashville) apparatus-where their first responder unit was turning our for an EMS run. They were reportedly forced off the road by a passing vehicle, when the driver of that on coming vehicle was fidgeting with an interior light and crossed the center line, ending up in the medical truck’s path, forcing the truck off the road to avoid the crash. The emergency rig ran up an embankment and overturned. The driver was entrapped but was rescued, treated and transported with NLT injuries.
