A volunteer firefighter who was responding to a Saturday afternoon house fire was involved in an accident involving a former police officer. It happened shortly after 1:00 at the intersection of Highways 96 and 190 in Jasper.
The fireman, who serves with the East End Fire Department, was traveling westbound on Highway 190 in his late model Dodge Ram pickup truck, and the other man was traveling southbound on Highway 96 in his late model Dodge Challenger sedan.
The front of the car collided with the passenger door of the truck. Thankfully, both drivers were uninjured.
The names of the drivers involved and other details about the crash are not expected to be released by Jasper Police until Monday.
