That fire apparatus and a pickup truck that collided in Montana caused an explosion and fire that killed a family of five and a volunteer fire chief -there were no survivors.
The apparatus driven by Three Forks VFD Chief Todd Rummel (who was a former Pennsylvania Fire Chief as well) was heading east on U.S. Highway 12 when it collided with the westbound pickup about 10 miles east of Helena. He was returning to quarters from maintenance.
Before moving to Montana, Chief Rummel served with the Haycock Fire Company in Quakerstown (Bucks County), where he was a lifetime member.
Killed in the pickup were a yet to be identified Helena couple and their three young children. RIP.
