On this Family Day, a South Glengarry firefighter is coming home to his family after being badly injured in a fire truck crash just over a week ago.
That’s according to a statement from the Township of South Glengarry, citing contact with family members.
But the road to recovery continues for Randy Robertson.
Robertson was hurt Feb. 6 when the fire truck tanker he was driving, rolled while trying to get to a single vehicle crash on Highway 401.
Road conditions were extremely poor at the time.
Since the accident, Randy has been recuperating at the Ottawa Civic Hospital with multiple upper-body injuries.
The South Glengarry Station 4 Firefighter Association is holding a fundraiser Feb. 21 at the Lancaster Legion.
The spaghetti supper and silent auction runs from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m.
Donations are also being accepted by the Lancaster Firefighter Association, which will go directly to Randy as he continues his recovery.
