The back end of a borough fire truck struck a Ford Explorer on Tuesday afternoon as firefighters responded to a fire call, police said.
The ladder truck and Ford Explorer suffered minor damage, said police spokesman Lt. Vincent Tamburro. No one was hurt.
The truck was turning from Prospect Avenue onto New Milford Avenue just before 4 p.m. Firefighters were on their way to back up New Milford firefighters who were at a River Edge fire, Tamburro said.
The Ford Explorer was stopped at a traffic signal and pulled over to give the fire truck more room, but the back of the fire truck swung out and hit the vehicle’s back bumper as it turned, the lieutenant said.
No summonses were issued, Tamburro said. Police declined to release the drivers’ names.
There were five firefighters in the truck and three people in the Ford Explorer.
