Conemaugh Township police are credited for saving a man’s life after a firetruck responding to a fire at 131 Mars Lane, Hollsopple, fell through a bridge. Conemaugh Township EMS Commander Terry Ruparcic said that when police arrived they were able to remove a man from the two-story home and drove him in their police cruiser to an ambulance.
The injured man, whose name was not released Tuesday afternoon, was taken to Conemaugh Hospital to be treated for smoke inhalation. Fire crews were still on the scene at 1:45 p.m.
Jereome Volunteer Fire Chief Russ Milller said the fire started in the walls and crews were dismantling the walls to extinguish the fire.
Smoke could be seen coming out of the back of the two-story home.
